Changing Windows 2000 File Type Defaults

These steps may be followed to change any Windows 2000 default action for a given file type in Windows 2000. For this example, we set Adobe PhotoShop as the default for Opening TIF files.

Select Folder Options from the Tools Menu
    To change the default program for Opening TIF files:
  1. Open Windows Explorer (Double click on the My Computer icon)
  2. Open the Tools menu
  3. Select Folder Options
  4. Click on the File Types tab
  5. Scroll down until your find TIFF file
  6. Click on the Advanced button
  7. Select the Open action and click on the Edit button
  8. Click on the Browse button
  9. Locate the target program (Adobe PhotoShop) and click on the Open button.
  10. Click OK and Close until you've exited back to Explorer
Find the file type and click AdvancedSelect the Action and click on EditClick on Browse
